There's something very comforting in the knowledge that some of us can still be found where it all started
I've often been tempted to revisit myself, though i'm sure it would only be a quick trip down memory lane.

Rift: Planes of Telara
I don't know if many have been keeping an eye on Rift, but the first of their beta events is due to kick-off tomorrow in the build up to release. For those that are not aware of the title, though I don't see how if you visit any popular gaming site :), Rift: Planes of Telara is a new mmorpg from Tri...

SOE to publish Pirates of the Burning Sea
Flying Labs have signed with SOE to publish their upcoming mmorpg, Pirates of the Burning Sea. It appears they can't emphasize enough that this is a publishing deal and that they (SOE) will have no involvement in the development/direction of the game. Pirates of the Burning Sea will be published in ...

hi :) Other than me, there wasn't much interest at all until recently. I think a few are thinking of giving it a go, though possibly more as a backup to their preferred game - not that I want to speak for them :) - so I don't see a CW guild as likely in LOTRO. Myself, I've preordered a CE and will b...

Release date for Pirates of the Burning Sea
Just checking out another game that I'm keeping an eye on in the background, and found that they've anounced that Pirates of the Burning Sea is now planned for release in March 2007 :( A little disappointing for those (me included) that was hoping to see it this side of the new year. Still, with the...

Spain ban P2P :O
A new Spanish intellectual property law has made unauthorised P2P illegal. Seems they are really targetting ISPs, but the law isn't restricted to them so no downloads for personal use. They are also taxing blank media (CDs, memory sticks etc) in order to reimburse the owner of the copyright - yikes!...

9 Dragons
At last, an upcoming mmorpg based in a far east fantasy setting rather than the more traditional euro-fantasy. Acclaim have a new owner and have been restructured with a focus on online games. Their first MMORPG is 9 Dragons, a martial arts epic (think Crouching Tiger) set in ancient china during th...

Planetside free-to-play for a year
I read about this a while ago, but now it's live. You can download and play Planetside completely free until the program ends (March 24th 2007). Players will be able to play pretty much the full game, but will stop gaining experience at BattleRank 6 until upgraded to a full subscription. A few of us...

Shadowbane goes free-to-play
Subscriptions are being dropped and Ubisoft are looking into alternate revenue models. Although a problematic start (not least of which being the Euro distributor going into liquidation prior to release), I actually thought the game offered something very different to the other mmorpgs on the scene....

Lord of the Rings Online
No real surprise as Turbine seem to have formed a bit of a partnership with Codemasters lately. I haven't looked into it yet, but it likely means the continuation of regionalised accounts, so Euro clients won't be able to connect to US servers etc. As much as that annoys me, one thing in Turbine/Cod...

hi Kibs I've not been playing it at all. I've not been well (only the flu, but enough aches and such that I didn't fancy being sat in front of the monitor), plus with the release much sooner that I thought originally I didn't want to be spending my first few days in retail going through the same adv...

I have it and occasionally spin it up still too. I think if I'd made better use of sites such as NeverWinterConnections I'd have played for a lot longer. I had hte same problem as Max, most of those public adventures I joined either suffered from long delays as people went afk or lost conn or they w...

There was only one server when I started, which I think is Lyrander. I have a ranger named Finsbury - also Bevan (paladin) and Bogart (rogue), though really only playing Finsbury through beta atm. As for replayability Mafti, as BJ said you can redo adventures with diminishing returns, but I expect t...

Dungeons and Dragons Online
Unfortunately for the aforementioned RFOnline, my beta invite came through the same day as an invite for the Euro beta test of Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO). I did take a little look at RFOnline, but it's really not going to get much of a look in with DDO about. For anyone else interested in DDO...
