I like it! The old forum was great but this one tops it :)

Well done, Max and Ant!

The members forum is for the most part not working for me :( . On my new Dell, I use Netscape 6.1 and have cookies enabled. It accepts my login but does not show the members section on the next screen. My username & password is not a problem. I also have Java enabled. It also doesn't work in Internet Explorer 6 which I have installed on both the Dell and the old desktop. I have to resort to ancient Netscape 4.78 on the old desktop (and at work). Help?

P.S. At one point I couldn't even access the public forum (using IE 6); it said it required a login!

Hmm. Im reluctant to think its simply a browser problem .. I use IE6 under XP .. and have also tested with the latest Netscape.

Cookies are enabled .. so thath shouldnt be a problem. Ill try to log in as you and verify the account, if thats fine and you say you can access the boards from your old machine then its sounding more likely to be a simple setting somewhere and well start comparing the two.

We've tried that already (logging in as me), even re-registered me. Works for them (IE 5.5) but not for me still. I upgraded to Netscape 6.2 last night and it still didn't work with cookies & Java enabled.

The other thing is that this new messageboard coincides timing-wise with the fact that I finally (!) got a cable modem on Friday. I've been using Norton Internet Security prior to this and I haven't changed the firewall settings at all. In fact, the only problem I've had at all is with this board. Stratics boards work fine and UO itself works fine.

The symptom (which I didn't detail before) is that I log in, get the "welcome Ariye" message, but when it refreshes to the next screen, it's still saying I'm a guest and has the "log in" link. And no members board :( .

ahhhhhh, sounds like cache

Log in, let it say welcome then hold down ALT (I think its Alt, or maybe CTRL, or Shift :p) and click the refresh icon in netscape, that will force it to take a new version from the ISP.
If you still get the same page then its likely your ISP is pushing you through a proxy cache.

I've got *all* my browsers set to always load a new version of a given webpage rather then use a cached version. That's a habit I had to pick up at work.

I tried that with each of those keys Max mentioned...and nada :( .

And if my cable provider is forcing things thru a proxy, then why am I in fact able to get thru using Netscape 4.78 using the same cable ISP?

Are you still having problems accessing the forum? I think i actually figured out what caused your problem, just give it another try and let me know if it works.

Sorry, Ant, but it didn't work in IE 6 :( .

It only works in Netscape 4.78 and not in Netscape 6.2 nor IE 6. And using the same cable modem for two different comps.

Im baffled now.

I tried logging in as both myself, and you using almost every browser I could find (including opera and one I wrote in VB). All worked.

Very very strange that you can access the board through 1 particular browser. One thing to check in IE6 is the privacy level (Tools->Internet Options->Privacy). check that www.clanwulf.de is not on a blocked list for restricting cookies and that your privacy level is medium or lower, any higher would STOP cookies even though youd enabled them elsewhere.

Keep trying, were not giving up yet :)

I checked IE 6 and I don't seem to have a list of anything as blocked or allowed sites. And everything is set to the default of "medium".

I still can only get in via Netscape 4.79 (updated that too).
